The Ashes 2023 Second Test Highlights

Australia took the advantage in the first Ashes 2023 test at Edgbaston, after their captain and Nathan Lyon proved resolute with the bat at the end in a thrilling opening match.

In the second test at Lords, the home of Cricket, England were looking to level the series, while Australia were hoping to pull away to a 2-0 advantage.

The highlights of the full test are posted below, broken down by each of the day’s play. Highlights are embedded from the official YouTube channel of the England & Wales Cricket Board.

The Ashes 2023 – Second Test Day 5 Highlights

In an incredible day’s play, Australia won to go 2-0 up despite Ben Stokes playing a monumental innings, after Cary dismissed Young Jonny Bairstow in controversial style.

The day probably hinged on this very controversial moment, when Jonny Bairstow was “stumped” by a quick-thinking Carey at WK; as seen in this video from Sky Sports Cricket:

Had Cummins called Bairstow back, and then Australia had won by a hundred runs or so, as they were likely to, England would be bereft right now. As it has turned out, this spirit of doggedness has emerged. It might bite the Aussies, yet.

That said, England ended this one 2-0 down in the 2023 Ashes. Only Bradman himself has ever inspired recovery from that in an Ashes series.
