Back in 2017 I wrote a post called “New Baby Resolutions.” It was half a personal announcement, half a nudge to myself to do things differently. That baby, Heather, is now at school. Time moves quickly.
So here’s a fresh set of resolutions for 2025, reflecting where I am now, both personally and professionally:
- Stay inbox zero — still relevant, still hard. The volume has changed (ten times higher now), but the principle is the same: handle messages, don’t hoard them.
- Prioritize meaningful projects — my time is finite, so I’m doubling down on ventures that matter: education, open source, and tech that scales.
- Keep the web fast — the obsession with speed never went away. From servers to scripts, performance is still the real differentiator.
- Write with more intent — whether here on the blog or across Copiq and other projects, publishing should add something lasting, not just add noise.
- Protect privacy — it mattered in 2017, and it matters even more now. Not every moment of family life, or business life, needs to be broadcast.
If 2017 was about survival and growth, 2025 is about focus and leverage. Same thread, different stage.
