WordPress 5.0 is Here! (I’m running it, and it works!)

WordPress 5.0 is live and kicking, and brings with it a new editor experience, in the form of Gutenberg.

Does it work?

Well, sure as heck it does, this post was written in the new release, which is hitting the virtual streets round about 19:00 GMT on December 6 2018.

To be fair, I’d already tested it 🙂

Well done and huge props to everyone who got this release shipped in what has been something of a pressure cooker atmosphere in recent weeks.

Want to Test it First?

If you’ve got a business install, and would like to test / audit your site for readiness before you hit the update button, check out the WordPress 5.0 Audit over at Silicon Dales.

What about WooCommerce?

WooCommerce is superb with WordPress 5.0, but you do need to make sure you Update WooCommerce first to at least version 3.5.1 which includes vital compatibilities for WordPress 5.0.

Recommended: get the WooCommerce Blocks plugin – its really cool.
