Altetico Madrid v Liverpool (1-0)
Liverpool defeats are rare as rare can be, so when Saul’s 4th minute opener went in, holders Liverpool will have been confident they could get a goal back… but Diego Simeone’s men have a strong rearguard, and held on to record an impressive victory – and deny Liverpool an away goal in the process – setting up a big second leg at Anfield, which Liverpool must win.
If Atletico score in Anfield, we could be on for a bobby belter of a second leg, as the Reds will need to score three to progress!
Borussia Dortmund v PSG (2-1)
The Champions League just doesn’t disappoint, does it. Fresh from scoring in his first matches in league and cup for Dortmund, their wonderful teenager, Haaland, scored a brace at home to PSG to give them the edge in this last 16 match-up.
The second goal was some strike, as the 6’4″ centre forward showed why he is one of the hottest properties in football.
