Looking for the best* seriously good** Cheltenham Festival Tips?
I did this last year, and there’s nothing I like more than traditions — in fact, I saw some wit on Twitter the other day opine that
“tradition is just peer pressure from dead people”

So, on seeing this, as well as laughing really hard, I realised that it was very important to keep up with traditions.
* These very obviously might not be the best tips. There is no way of knowing until later. At which point, sling your arrows in the comments section, at the bottom. Note, I will moderate comments, so if you’re going to criticize, please do so with elaborate, floral, Shakespearean aplomb, or… you’re getting deleted 🙂
** Seriously good is obviously also highly subjective, too.
In around the year 2000, I won thousands from a 50p bet on a Tote Trifecta bet on the opening day of Cheltenham Festival, so every year since then, I’ve expended huge amounts of energy honing and refining the same handicapping algorithm, in an effort to make lightning strike in that place again.
While that’s a little tongue-in-cheek, the key elements are all 100% true. I did win a £5,200 to 1 Trifecta bet – which paid £2,600 for my 50p stake.

Cheltenham Festival 2020 Summary
The story so far…
Day one was a great day, with a real highlight being the tussle between Shishkin and Abracadabras (both of which I had each-way, so I could enjoy the battle!) and also the battle royal between the mares Benie Des Dieux and Honeysuckle, which I called wrong in advance.
Honeysuckle proved to be a tougher nut to crack – which is great thing about sport. We don’t know everything in advance. We must put things to a test in a battle on the track. Neither mare left anything on the track. It was an excellent race.
I was really confident that Sam Waley-Cohen would get Lord Du Mesnil into the frame, and that he did, but 3 lengths away from the winner, and a distance from the field. That was a crossbar hit, at 6/1, to cap a brilliant, entertaining, opening day.
