The EFL Cup, this year branded the Carabao Cup, for 2019/20 saw the Quarter Finals this week.

Highlights from all four matches are below, embedded from the official UK highlights distributor, Sky Sports.

I’ve collected them together, here, in my ad-free website, for football fans to enjoy the four matches… if you like the action, leave a comment at the botttom. Comments are moderated (this isn’t YouTube) so there’s no bad craic.

Video Highlights – Quarter Finals

Aston Villa v Liverpool (5-0)

Liverpool sent a youngest ever side to play Villa, as they had a Club World Cup engagement the following day. They were summarily beaten 5-0 by Villa’s Premier League hardened side, but showed some quality for a side with an average age of 18!

Still, a bit of a shame it had to be this way.

Oxford United v Man City (1-3)

Raheem Sterling scored twice, and effectively was the difference between Manchester City and Oxford United in this match the Premier League champs won 3-1. Yet again, City conceded.

Everton v Leicester (2-2 Leicester win on Pens)

For excitement, this was the tie of the round, as Leicester progressed to the semi-finals with a win on penalties.

Maddison was involved in both goals, scoring with a nice half volley into the bottom corner, before flicking on a corner for Jonny Evans to slam home from close range. Everton, though, were down but not out. Despite Leicester having a couple of close chances, the Toffees came back to 2-2, through goals from Davies and an absolute belter from Leighton Baines, with the clock ticking past 90 minutes.

Having got back into it, Everton then misfired from the spot.

Pickford saved Maddison’s penalty for Everton, a great save, but this was not enough, as Schmeichel saved twice, before Jamie Vardy netted the decisive pen to win 4-2, with one kick remaining untaken.

Man Utd v Colchester (3-0)

Colchester’s dream run was ended by Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Rashford scored twice, looking cool – after a howler early on – before Martial put the result beyond doubt.
